Social Network Analyzes (SNA) – Forrester (James Kobielus) zeigt die Risiken – “Beware of sexy statgeists. “

The problem is that social network analysis—automatic, real-time, effective–will become too popular. Enterprises will rely more and more on high-powered social-network-analysis models to divine market trends, segment the customer base, and tune their campaigns. As this approach gains adoption, companies will be tempted to pull back significantly from traditional outreach efforts—such as focus groups—that involve direct interaction with customers and other stakeholders.

333333; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman, serif;">It’s not that statistical models are inherently invalid. It’s just that they can become another layer of abstraction between you and your customers, preventing you from making personal connections with them and thereby securing their ongoing patronage and loyalty. Also, those models may crowd out the intuitional approaches you should use to gauge the cultural zeitgeist within which your business creates value.

Schlusszitat: “Beware of sexy statgeists. “

PreView – E20Summit in Frankfurt incl. Blog Readers Registration Bonus :)

Next week, Wednesday and Thursday there’s the Enterprise 2.0 SUMMIT in Frankfurt upcoming – this is the biggest event for the Enterprise 2.0 community in Germany and Europe. IBM is a sponsor of the conference and I am looking forward to the discussions with consultants, corporate users and collaboration academics too. This discussion will help us in further expanding our understanding of the potentials of web technologies and the social web in corporations.

So I think that this is a great primer for executives wanting to learn what, where and how to start and proceed with an Enterprise 2.0 initiative. I’ve you want to be part of the event too, use the promotion code “e20stz” for a 200€ rebate when registering.

Even if I will not be part of the official programme it would be nice to meet you there and continue the ongoing discussion we had in the past months/years. My personal agenda will be focused on the adoption of ECM and discovery technology in the E20 market space. I have to be honest – at the moment I do see some development in the market that tries to reinvent the wheel. Maybe I get surprised.

Here’s the agenda and more information on speakers
